I've had pops/clicks/dropouts in *rendered* files mixed down from 6 separate one-shot audio tracks (2 stereo, 4 mono). Actually, even rendering with all tracks muted, except for 1, produces the same problems. Real-time playback of the 6 tracks through the Acid mixer is fine (doesn't seem to be a buffering or sound card driver issue). Anomolies are *in the rendered file*, i.e. same anomolies in same place each time I play back a given file. Different rendered files have different anomolies. It *seems* that the anomolies are on beat-mapped boundaries, based on playing back file in properties window. Is there a way to render a *one-shot* file, instead of a beat-mapped file?? This seemed to start after an upgrade to Acid 6.0c, and continues with 6.0d, even with total remove/reinstall (including wiping out XP registry settings recommended by Sony). I've done successful renderings with earlier versions of Acid 6.0 Any ideas what's going on here? -- Ben -- |

Ben, That is a nasty problem. This is definitely something we need to address in the near future. A couple things to try: 1) Try rendering to a different format (WAV, AIFF, MP3, PCA). Sometimes using a different format will alter the behavior of the engine. Let me know if the behavior changes when you use different rendering file formats. 2) If you delete all the other tracks in the project, do you still get the dropouts? If so, perhaps you can post a trimmed-down project to our FTP site and I can see exactly what is going on. Anybody else have any similar symptoms to report? - Matt |

Hello Matt, I'm having the exact same problem and just came here right now to report it. I get the same results whether rendering to wav or mp3. It's an album I've just finished mixing for a client that was supposed to be sent off today. So I'd really like to get this sorted out asap! There's one particular song that I've noticed these problems in, but I'm sure there's more that I haven't rendered yet. The audio files are way too large to upload. The VST insert plugins I'm using are - The Kjaerhus Audio Classic compressor, Blockfish compressor and Kjaerhus Audio Classic phaser, along with the Kjaerhus Audio Classic Reverb, Kjaerhus Audio Classic Delay and Ambience reverb on the effects buses, the free demo/unregistered version. The DX insert plugins I'm using are the standard Sony EQ and Noise Gate, and Izotope's Trash. Here's a screenshot incase it helps - http://farm1.static.flickr.com/145/350169836_a45294158c_o.gif Also, 3 of the insert buttons are now yellow instead of green. Why is that? Glenn |

Also, 3 of the insert buttons are now yellow instead of green. Why is that? It is just a color coded plugin status indicator for that track or bus. It will change to one of three colors under these conditions: Green: No plugins in FX chain require PDC (plugin delay compensation) Yellow: One of more plugins in FX chain require PDC Red: One or more plugins have beeen disabled. Typically seen when you are using ACID in rewire slave mode and have one or more plugins that reguire PDC. You can't use PDC type plugins in a slave rewire app, as per rewire spec. This FX icon color coding was first introduced in ACID Pro 5. It could be one or more of the third party FX are causing the render problems. Have you tried eliminating the third party FX to see if that fixes it. Might be a process of elimination to find the culprit. Of course, it might be something entirely different, just offering an idea to try. Cheers, Billy Buck Message last edited on1/8/2007 4:25:50 AM bybillybk. |

Thanks, yes, it seems to be the songs with the yellow indicators that have the problems. I'll try and narrow it down to see if I can find the culpret. I've only just upgrade to version 6 from 3, so wasn't aware of the colour coding... Better have another read of the manual. |

Problem Solved - It was Sony's own Noise Gate and Restoration Express plugins that caused the plugin icons to turn yellow and mess up the renders. I replaced the noise gate with a free VST plugin called GGate which worked quite nicely. |
