I'm looking at buying EZDrummer for use in ACID pro 6.0 and had a few questions. -- IIs there a way to apply one or more of the vst/DX effects available in ACID to individual mics/tracks in EZD. For instance, does the EZD mixer allow tracks to be routed to busses in ACID? -- How well does ACID, EZD and other Vst plugins play together? I have about 30 plugs that so far work flawlessly with ACID (knock on wood). Anyone notice any problems after installing EZD. Thanks, Erich |

The way to do this is to setup the EZD VSTi in multi-out mode after you insert it into an ACID 6 project. You do this by right mouse clicking the EZD VSTi bus and selecting each VSTi out, from the dropdown menu. A new new EZD VSTi bus will be created. In EZD, you go to the Internal Mixer , right mouse click a track number to expose the routing menu and select Multi-Channel to route all the internal mizer channels to separate VSTi tracks or you can do it on an channel by channel basis. You can then add any VST/DX FX plugins to your exposed EZD multi-out buses. You can go further and route those buses to additional FX buses, as well. I will sometimes add a 1176LN to the Snare buses and then route those buses to an FX bus with a Plate 140 and then route that to the master bus. Take advantage of ACID's Bus to Bus routing. -- How well does ACID, EZD and other Vst plugins play together? I have about 30 plugs that so far work flawlessly with ACID (knock on wood). Anyone notice any problems after installing EZD If your VST's already work well with ACID 6 then you most likely will not have a problem using them with EZD it is pretty transparent. *There is one bugaboo you need to be aware of that was introduced in the ACID Pro 6d update. If you are playing back an ACID project and you loop preview from the EZD Groove Librarian (which you will often want to do as you look for compatible loops that play well with those already in your project), ACID will dropout the last beats of the loop. If ACID is not playing the preview works fine, but not when you engage ACID playback. A minor annoyance, but hopefully will be fixed in a future update. Preview does properly work in ACID Pro 6c, so you may just want to install that instead for now. I have drum maps (for Pop/Rock, Cocktail & Vintage Rock EZX kits) and EZD VSTi multi-out templates that I've created for ACID Pro 6. Just fire up ACID, open the EZD VSTi multi-out template and in a few seconds you are already setup & configured and ready to ROCK! Overall, EZD works quite well in ACID Pro 6. Thanks Billy, I picked up a copy of EZD. I'm very happy with it so far; very nice product and a great price. Other than some strange drag-n-drop midi information missing issues that are addressed in other threads in this forum I haven't seen any issues thus far. Multi-ing out to ACID is a cinch. I do need to update my box to 1G of RAM though -- I'm amazed at how much I can do with 512. A few more quesions: -- ACID shows the name of the Groove variation in the timeline; on the clip. Is there a way to find out the Groove that it's varying? -- So far the only thing I can see possible to add effects to the EZD busses is to create a generic buss, add effects to it and assign the EZD buss to that. Sure would be nice if an EZD buss could be sent to an effects insert -- is that possible? Thanks again Erich |

I picked up a copy of EZD. I'm very happy with it so far; very nice product and a great price. Thats cool, it is a great product all around. It has my vote for best drum sampler VSTi, of 2006. Refreshingly original and ez to use GUI and professional sounding drum kits at an affordable price. If you have not already make sure to update to the latest EZD version 1.04 . I do need to update my box to 1G of RAM though -- I'm amazed at how much I can do with 512. Yes, I ran EZD, for about 5 months, with just 512MB of RAM too. Since I upgraded to a Core Duo DAW (1GB RAM) I found EZD does load faster and is even more responsive now. ACID shows the name of the Groove variation in the timeline; on the clip. Is there a way to find out the Groove that it's varying? Not that I am aware of. I think it is more a product of EZD than ACID. I see the same EZD clip naming convention in other VSTi hosts as well. So far the only thing I can see possible to add effects to the EZD busses is to create a generic buss, add effects to it and assign the EZD buss to that. Sure would be nice if an EZD buss could be sent to an effects insert -- is that possible? Routing a Bus to an FX insert is not possible in ACID. Thanks again Bily, I'll post a question about ID'ing the Groove over on the EZD forum and I put in a feature request for sending busses to effect inserts. I'm really loving EZD. |
