Helllllp..... M Audio or PreSonus? -ACID Product Family

Subject:Helllllp..... M Audio or PreSonus? Posted by: spiderandmichael Date:1/1/2007 3:21:53 AM I'm leaning towards the PreSonus firewire inspire, but the M Audio 410 looks pretty good as well. I've never used an interface before, so ANYONE who has knowledge, please jump in. My needs are simple. Recording 1 track at a time from a STEREO signal w/ the cleanest sound possible. I'm using a Digitech ap 300 r guitar processer and a Yamaha keyboard (Both have stereo outputs). Will both the M Audio and the PreSonus allow me to send and record a stereo signal to AcidPro. I know this is probably a simple question for most of you, but you've been so helpful in the past, so I'm asking again for your expert advice. Also, any heads up info about interface recording and firewire connection will be extremely helpful. Thanks so much. Spider.

Reply by: JohnnyRoy Date:1/1/2007 8:04:46 AM Both will get the job done but personally I would get the M-Audio FW-410 because it has "real" hardware control (i.e., knobs and buttons) instead of software control. This is just my personal preference but I like having real knobs to control the gain and switches that I can see in an instant if they are on or off or what level they are set at. The FW-410 cost more but that's because the extra hardware cost more and you are also getting 8 out instead of 2 out so you have more routing options and can do 7.1 surround mixes. I also like the fact that the FW-410 has two 1/4" headphone jacks with volume controls. This is great if you are working with someone else and you both need to monitor a recording. Again, I like to be able to just reach over and turn a knob to adjust the headphone level instead of having to invoke a piece of software and use my mouse to adjust headphone volume.
