Subject:Another timing issue

So who is going to be the first to try 6.0d?
Lets hear how it works!

Ok so here is my dilema, I create my drums in Fruity loops and use those my first track to dreate my song. When I want to make changes in the drums,( Just a little panning and volume changes) It screws up. The two drum track wav files will begn the same but after about 40 seconds, the new track falls out of time with the original track. Curious.
Any thoughts?

Let me tell you how I make a loop and see it if answers your questions. If not, I appologize.

1. First I create a loop in Reason. I make the loop one or two measures longer than I need, so the reverb tail has time to do it's thing. I save it as a .wav file.

2. I open that file in SF, adjust the volume level, and compress if needed. I also set the acid properties (tempo).

3. I then open it in acid and paint it onto two tracks. I set the loop region. On the first track, I shorten the file to the desired length of the loop. On the second track I erase all of the track within the loop region, and drag the remaining part of the file (basicly the reverb tail) to the begining of the loop region.

4. I then render that. That is my loop. Now if I'm planning to change tempos with that loop I will still need to adjust the acid properties slices (did I say that right?)

You can do this even if you don't have SF. SF just makes it easier for me.

I wonder if you're accidently pitch shifting one of the tracks...

Sounds like the new track is not ACIDized properly. What kind of track does ACID recognize the new track as? Beatmapped or Loop?

I checked the pitch control, that seemed ok..hmmmm

The original drum file I imported appeared to be a loop, however the NEW one is beatmapped, so that could be the problem.
So being a complete idiot, how can I import the new drums as a loop instead of a beatmap?

You posted this question on ACIDplanet too, didn't you?

You mentioned you were using FL. When rendering the loop, try selecting "Looping mode -> Cut remainder." Also make sure you ACIDize the loops (there's an option for that).

If you don't cut the remainder, you might have just the tiniest little tail left over from reverb or the end of a sample or whatever. That's not very noticeable at first, but if you're looping it several times you'll definitely notice it. I'm pretty sure that's what you're doing, especially since the default option in FL is the "Leave remainder" option.

You can change from beatmapped to loop in the properties.
