I'd love to get into sampling stuff a little more and messing around with some wacky stuff. Beatmapper is a cool concept that kinda has stunk, at least from my perspective from its inception.

It works wonderfully when you set the first measure, but the tempo of most songs that aren't preprogrammed techno or hip hop is much more fluid than beatmapper can handle and by the end of the song things are completely off beat.

What I have always longed to do is go into the Clip Properties where it shows you with markers where beatmapper is mapping measures to be and manually inserting those markers or manually adjusting single markers without readjusting how the entire song is beatmapped.

This tempo change and beatmapper's inability to deal with it stymies my remixing efforts. Whats a good way around this? Another DAW?

If anything, be sure to let Madison Media know what you'd like to see in a future version of ACID.

There is no other DAW that I know of that can do this. ACID is the only one that can but you don't use the beatmapper. What you need to do is something I call "tempo-mapping". Bring the song into ACID but don't beatmap it. Set the project tempo to the tempo of the first measure of the song. Then you drop a tempo change marker (T) at the beginning of every measure on the timeline. Next you listen to the song and drop a hit marker (H) at the downbeat of every measure of of song. Finally you start at the beginning and place the cursor on the first Tempo marker and then right-click the first Hit marker and select Adjust Tempo to match Mark to Cursor. This will adjust the tempo for that measure in the project to match the tempo of the song. (pretty cool) You do this for each measure and in the end, the project tempo maps perfectly to the song tempo. You can then add any loops you want and they will stay in sync with the song.
