I suggest you read the manual - it is explained pretty clearly.

There are two primary uses for the Groove Pool. One is to apply grooves to existing beats to change their timing. So if you have a beat in straight time and your song is in swing time you can apply a swing groove to alter the feel of the beat. The other more subtle use is to get two instruments like bass and drums to really groove together. You know how sometimes when the bass and drums are playing in time but it just doesn't feel right? What you do is save a new groove from drum loop and apply it to the bass loop. This makes the bass and drums lay together better as if the two musicians were listening to each other.

There is a whole chapter dedicated to the groove pool in our book Instant ACID.

There are some things in Instant ACID that still apply, like the Groove Tool/Pool and the Chopper since those remain largely unchanged. Some other tips (like how to properly ACIDize a sample) also basically still apply.

The chapters on recording (MIDI and digital audio) would need some updating since ACID Pro 6 is the very first version of ACID to incorporate multitracking. It's an altogether different monster in that respect since we can now have multiple media per track, as well as tasks such as "punch-in" recording.

But think about it, that's only 2 chapters out of a 15 chapter book and even then there are tips in those chapters like how to hook up your MIDI gear or what are VSTi's that are still relevant. It would be great to update the book but the publisher (CMP) got bought out.
