copying records to mp3

I have a Sony da90esg, a Technics turntable, a Gateway 64 bit labtop, Iriver MP3 (for the Harley) and Acid Music Studio software. My music collection dates to the 1960's and I am sure I will never see some of my records on cd. With what I have is it possible to records my records on a cd and then transfer them to the MP3? Any suggestions or help will certainly be appreciated.

Without repeating what's allready been covered, there are many posts on this subject worth reading in the Sound Forge & Vegas forums. Search for Vinyl, Records Restoration.. key words like that.
That said, I am not familiar with your equipment but it should be do-able. Use a good sound card and phono pre-amp.

What you don't mention is how you're going to get the signal from the receiver into the computer. Most laptops only have a mic input. You'll need a line-level input to do this. Even the laptops that have line inputs usually have lousy ones that aren't worth using. You'll probably need to get some sort of external USB sound port with stereo line in jacks.

You mention ACID, but you post in the Vegas forum. Do you also have Vegas? Either one will work just as well, though Vegas is probably a tad bit easier for this job. If you only have ACID then you may want to post in the ACID forum.
