OT: Rode VideoMic Silicone Bands

For those of us who DO have the Rode Video mic: VideoMic Silicone bands

These are different to my existing "circular" bands. Looks like with the "retaining" ends they should add some security too.

Interesting.. my VideoMic is virtually silent already, so I don't think I'll need any (yet).

Sounds like the first batch of the new bands were way too loose, and they have a new version out. There's a link in post #17 of that thread to a short video of Rode president Peter Freedman talking about the situation. Sounds like you can get a free set just for asking (so I just asked...). Gotta love Rode!

(I also saw recently that the current production version of the VideoMic now has a couple of audio pad switches built-in, inside the battery compartment. That would be very useful to amateurs like me with cheaper cams that don't have audio controls.)

The original ones seemed to just rot away within about 2 months of usage. I just went to the hardware store and bought standard O Rings and slipped them on - no noticable audio leaking into the mic.
