Obviously we've been thruogh this just a FEW times already but I can't seem to achieve the results I want ...

I have lots of different videos from diffrerent sources on my computer. They look great a play just fine without lagging, coughing or stuttering. I don't seem to be able to acomplish even comperable results when renering to .wmv or .mpg
It looks lousy and coughs, stutters etc .....
So one example is: Render As: . File Format: wmv 9 Template: 3 mbps Video but then comes the JUNGLE!!! You have Options there under for "Video" and "Bit Rate"
Sometimes I have lowered the Frame Rate (fps) to 15,000 and that seems to help but it seems to lose quality as well - = not cool. On Bit Rate I choose ISDN 64 k thinking/hoping this will give a "lighter" file to run but I', not sure of the results here.

So anyone have a working model/example/steps to achive good video quality that also plays smoothly?

"Bit Rate I choose ISDN 64 k"

That's what's killing your quality. You select a 3MB/sec template then crushing it 98%to 64k.

Try selecting a 512k bit rate, don't touch anything in the custom settings and see how that looks. Then work up or down from there until you get an acceptable quality/file size ratio.

Edited: Come to think of it, isn't ISDN 640k instead of 64k? Even so, you're reducing a 3MB rate to 640K, only 20% of the expected quality of 3MB rate. Start at 3MB, then go to 2MB, etc. until you get your desired quality.

If you really have to have a small file, you will need to reduce the frame size. If you do that, be sure to use the Best quality setting, which of course, will take longer.

The actual size of the file is not a consern at the moment - I am stumpted as to why some videos play smoother - more readily than mine and also look a LOT better.
I want to retian original frame size too.
