Hi everyone - I'm kinda new with Acid and I know there has to be a better way to put beats in then I am doing. Man, I'm doing it one beat at a time, then paste, paste, paste. My question: Ok , let's say there are three main tracks to put beats in: 1 - kick, 2 - snare, 3 - hiHat. For any expert out there, should I first put in the HiHat all the way across 4 minutes? Then add kick across? then add snare across last? then rearrange kick and snare to make neat beats? The instruction manual has no tutorial for simplifying this process. THANK YOU!! Last question: Should I initially set everything up - Snap to Grid? THANK YOU FOR ANY SUGGESTIONS!!! |

I take it you're arranging One-shots? Might want to check out the "paste repeat" command (Ctrl+B is the shortcut.) It will greatly simplify the task of copying and pasting One-shots. (ACID Pro 6 also has a new "sections" feature that lets you copy and paste entire sections of a project and paste them elsewhere easily. For example, you could make a "verse" section, a "chorus" section and a "break" section and whip them around at will to build a complete project.) Iacobus |

You could paste up one bar with all your beats, then render it to a file and make it a Acidised loop. Acid is designed to work with loops predominantly, so then you can easily paint as many bars as you want. Re the grid - if you want to make it easy to place beats so they are in time, use the grid (...Luke). This will be fine for most electronica styles, but it may be a bit rigid if you are trying to emulate a real performance. You can make the loop sound a bit more natural by dropping a Groove on the track. Turning the snap-to-grid off allows you to place beats wherever you want, so you can get whatever feel you want. You might try recording beats in real time the way you would on a MPC. If you want real performances, you might check out a loop library of real drums - plenty of killer ones around. |

You are at a disadvantage using ACID 4. Starting with ACID Pro 5 you can Insert Event at Play Cursor which means you can literally tap out the beat using the Y key while your project is playing. If you work with One Shots a lot, you should seriously consider upgrading to a newer release. ~jr Message last edited on11/14/2006 4:51:37 AM byJohnnyRoy. |

I agree with Johnny. Acid Pro 6 would serve you much better. Is there a reason you are not upgrading? I have an older system myself and AP6 runs better on it than AP4g did. That's not to mention all the new features and significant workflow improvements. |
