Any advice on which of these is the best buy...Edirol RO9, zoom h4, marantz pmd 670, 660, sony pcm d1...

I have had the PMD660 for almost 2 years now. I can vouch for it as a great piece of hardware. It's been almost around the world and recorded everything from oceans, tigers, gunfire, and rain. Never had a problem with it.

It all depends on what you are looking to, record music, conferences, S/FX, dialog, what kind mics are being used, do you need TC?
All have their pros and cons.
