Subject:AP 60c issues

Loaded 6.0c w .net2.0 updates and now my system is behaing oddly.
1. ACID runs very, very slowly and consumes massive CPU (50-90+ %) on simple 9 bar/10 track no fx demo
2. Audio is muted until open Master FX (and then close) on mixer strip
3. Audio is clipped, choppy, sounds ring modulated/phlanged
4. Does not crash repeatedly in winmm.dll like 6.0b did

Notes: running XP Pro SP1 w DX9.0c
Will be rolling back nvidia dirvers from 91.31 to previous ver
Seeking advice on moving to SP2 - I've heard horror tales
