Subject:Mute with fade-in/out ?

I'm editing tons of dialogue.
I need to replace breath sounds with silence. The client wants the muted selection to fade out/in at the edges.

What's the best way to do this?

Thanks!

Probably with the graphic fade, draw your desired envelope highlight the breath, then execute. Highlight the next one and select "Edit> Repeat"
I do a lot repetitive process' like that, so I assigned "Edit> Repeat" a single keystroke. (F8 in my case)

But is there a single function that will do what I need? BTW, I'm still using v5, but I'm about to buy the upgrade to v8. Does this function exists in a more recent version of SF? In other words, I'm looking for a function like Mute, but with the ability to define (in milliseconds) how much of the beginning should fade out, and how much of the ending should fade in. Basically a combination of Mute and Trim/Crop.

SF-5 did not have the "Graphic Fade" process' I recall it came out in SF-6. You could try a script when you get SF-8 but I wouldn't know where to begin writiing it and whether it would be any better than the Graphic Fade.

Thanks...I will upgrade and check that out.
Looks like you and I are the only ones here.

The graphic fade is pretty much the only I option I can think of that will do what you want. Regardless, you're still going to have get your hands dirty and figure out where you want the graphic fade to occur each time you want to eliminate any extraneous breathing sounds.
