With the new HVR-V1U coming out in December, one of the most promising aspects to me, besides the obvious superior CMOS chip and the true progressive 24p, is the HVR-DR60, the optional hard drive that can pull video directly from the camera.
Will this special drive be compatible with Vegas 7?
One thing I've noticed is that this drive like the rest of them continues to stick with FAT32 which can lead to glitches when long recordings are split over multiple files. Hopefully this one is glitch free!
I asked several different vendors at NAB why they presist with this and after the blank stares I got some silly answer like "It's the only thing that Macs and PCs can read". Well NO, we can both read NTFS and HFS and I wouldn't care if the dang things were HFS even, anything but FAT32, yish.
Anyways Sony twisted our arm and we've ordered one. Wish they'd find a better way to mount it, neither of the two options seem overly robust.
