I've noticed that year 2006 has been limited in its variety of Get Media loops to 'Drums From the Big Room', 'Vitale Organ' and 'Henry Willis'.
One exception - March gave us a few 'Structure Capture' loops. Not to be complaining - everyone likes free loops - but most of the fun of Get Media in previous years was the surprise of different styles each month. It also gave a broader base of individual library samples than is available at the Sony loop library pages. Perhaps in 2007 Sony will get back to more variety (and, hopefully, more generosity) as they had in the past.

What is to become of the 'new' instruments (none issued since July) for NI's KOMPAKT now that it has been discontinued by Native Instruments?

Just a couple of thoughts for discussion.

Peace

I agree, the Get Media Loops has totally run out of steam. It's unfortunate. On the other hand, claiming them to be "new and exclusive" that are "not available elsewhere" has also been a bit of puffery. A large number of the free loops have just been edited down versions of the ones from the regular releases.

That said, I still think the free loops have been a good way to try out some content, so it was an effective promotional tool. By now, I think we all know what Drums From The Big Room is all about, so they ought to promote something else already.

Just to be devil's advocate here, until recently, there haven't been any new loop libraries, which Get Media regularly showcased. That would probably explain why there's been a dearth of content.

As for instruments for the special ACID Pro edition of Kompakt, I'd imagine that's up to Sony Madison. (What? You can't make your own? ;o) )
