Those are, what, Divx files? Divx files are very compressed, which means Vegas has to decompress them, sew 'em together, and recompress the final output. Essentially, Vegas has to create and encode a whole new video, as opposed to if you were going from DV_AVI to DV_AVI, in which case it merely copies the content.

If you're married to using DivX (kind of surprised a TV station would want to use it, but okay), I'd recommend finding another program to combine them into one. Just do a Google search for "combine Divx", and you should get a few suggestions.

And If they're not Divx files, what are they?

They are .div files captured straight from the camera into a folder on the PC.
