Subject:All tracks export as separate files command?

I'm thinking about upgrading to ACID 6. I'm using 4 at the moment, mostly for loops. Nuendo 2 is my main DAW.
If I'm going to shell out the dough to upgrade I'll need to know a few important things.

1. Can ACID 6 export all tracks at once to separate mono and stereo files so they can be imported to another DAW for mixing.
For instance. In Nuendo,

You highlight the tracks you want to export as separate files.
Go to file/ export/ Selected tracks.
All the tracks are exported as separate files into a folder, PRE FX.
This is great for taking your stuff to a high end studio for mixing.

Thanks,
Rick

1. Yes.

1a. Why are you still using Nuendo 2?

Thanks for the quick answer. I think I'll pony up for 6.

The reason for me still using Nuendo 2 over 3 is simple. I didn't need it to run my studio, and my business partner where I do my live tracking is on Nuendo 2 as well. I couldn't justify spending $400 for an upgrade I wouldn't use ( I don't need Play order tracks or the Control room additions ). I decided to purchase Melodyne instead.

If Cubase 4 is any indication I will be upgrading to Nuendo 4 though. I may even switch to Cubase 4 since it seems to have grown into a world class DAW. Nuendo has great name recognition here in Nashville though and I might just spend the extra dough just for the ego like everyone else does. It keeps me from having to go running back to Pro Tools.

Thanks again vocalpoint,
I'll let you know in a couple of weeks how ACID 6 is being incorporated into my studio again.

You do know that Acid 4 also has this functionality right? This is not an Acid 6 specific feature, so you can try it out in Acid 4 to see how it works for you. I don't think it's exactly what you're looking for as far as selecting specific tracks within a project, but it will probably get you what you are looking for without too much additional effort.

In Acid 4 or 6 select Save as or Render as and chose the format you want to export each track as...ie .WAV. There is check box you need to enable, which is "Save each track as a seperate file".

You can make a timeline selection, and additionally enable the check box to "Render Loop Region Only" if there is a certain section of the project that you want to extract.

Now the parts that are not there. The individual tracks are not rendered in their native format. So in other words, if you select to render as .Wav and choose "Stereo", then all the tracks will be rendered as Stereo, thus your mono tracks will be converted to 2 channel Stereo files. If you select to render as Mono, then your stereo tracks will be rendered as a combined Mono mix file.

So what I would recommend to do for a project with a combination of Stereo and Mono tracks is to Select all your Mono tracks and then right click on those selection of tracks and chose to Delete them. Now Render all the Stereo tracks as seperate track files. Once that completes, then goto the Undo Menu and chose to "Undo Delete tracks". So now you have all your mono tracks back. Now select all your Stereo tracks and select to Delete all of them. Now do a Render all as Mono tracks as seperate track files. Then once again, when this completes choose to "Undo Delete Tracks". Muting the individual tracks will not work. Acid will still render that track, except it will render it as a silent .Wav file.

Also take note that whatever Pan, Fader and FX inserts you have on the track mixer will be applied to the track audio.

This feature basically is the same as selecting "Render As" and then soloing the individual tracks one by one.

Hopefully this helps,
Brad

Brad,

Thanks for the tip. I knew about the separate file export, but it's not "Pre--EQ and FX". It's nice to be able to do this because of the time saved. No biggie.
I'm going to make use of your "delete then udo" mono and stereo files separately. I'll just have to make sure to dump all the eq's, inserts, and send fx's.
Great tip!

Thanks,
Rick

I don't know about Acid 4, but Acid 6 does have a menu item of "Bypass all audio FX's". It is found under the Options Menu.

Brad,

That's awesome! I'm going purchase the upgrade next week. I'm really looking forward to using ACID as a rewire slave, and putting multiple loops on a single track.
Now is the right time for me to start using ACID again.
Thanks everyone for the help,

Great forum,
Rick
