What version of rewire does acid 6 support in rewire slave mode? I thought I read v1.0 in the manual ... but wanted to make sure |

ACID 6 as a rewire device supports audio routing only, so technically it uses the ReWire 1.0 spec. ReWire 2.0 provides a mechanism to send MIDI data between the host and the clien. ACID 6 does not support MIDI communication between itself and the ReWire Mixer. What does this mean? - ACID can be hosted in any ReWire host - Nuendo/Cubase, SONAR, etc, etc. - You cannot trigger ACID's softsynths from the host using MIDI. Peter |

thanks for the response ... hmmm When rewired to something like pro tools, should I be able to make edits in Acid? It seems that the cursor becomes "locked" when in rewire slave mode Is this an anomoly, or is it suppose to be like that? thanks R |

You should be able to edit all you want when ACID is ReWired to PTools. PTools is the owner of the time line when ACID is ReWired. The cursor, playback, everything on the time line transport is owned by PTools. What do you mean by locked? What can't you do? Be specific. Peter |

Ahh .. sorry ... When I try move the cursor in Acid, it automatically just jumps back to the beginning of the timeline. So, I'm actually using reaper v1.21 as the rewire host (Pro Tools was just an example of an app that should work with Acid rewired - but I wasn't sure if I *should* be able to edit in acid when it was slave to another program. Though I do have PT M-powered, I don't actually like it or use it hehe) - Anyway, reaper as the rewire host worked fine with Reason, and melodyne uno/studio, but it only worked to a point with Acid 6 (i.e. if I press play in reaper, it plays in Acid and I can hear it). I am just not able to edit anything in Acid when it is rewired to reaper. Could this be a problem with the way Reaper implements rewire? Though I can't understand/imagine why it would work with Melodyne studio and not Acid since they are both sending multitrack audio data. I don't have the Reaper with ReWire host support, so I can't tell you what it is or is not doing. I would talk to Justin as this does not happen with any other ReWire host - i.e. PTools, Nuendo, Live, Cubase, SONAR, etc. etc. Peter |

I just tried Reaper. There is definitely something wrong here. I cannot get Reason, Live, Project5, or any of my other ReWire devices - including ACID 5 or 6 - to play when hosted by Reaper. Things like The Grand 2 or Virtual Guitarist work, but these have no transport but are just "synths" that can be played. Peter |

Hi Peter, In Orion Platinum 7 (host) Rewired with Acid Pro 6.0b (client), it sounds clicks and pops. But, as I'm 3 soundcards in my system, when I switch from one ASIO driver to another then all sounds flawlessly. Orion rewires as host ok in my other rewire clients (Reason 3, Project 5 v2, Live 5) Do you guess what's happening? Thank you. |

Since ACID is ReWired to Orion, then this is an Orion issue. We have no control over clicks and pops since ACID is just sending data to Orion. You say that if you switch to a different audio hardware/ASIO then the clicks and pops stop in Orion? You don't mention what hardware works and which don't. Peter |

Peter, For your records, when configuring Orion with ASIO EMU 0404 it clicks when I switch to ASIO Edirol PCR-1 it sounds ok. Thank you. |

Then it sounds like an issue with the EMU drivers. Using ASIO? Peter |
