Last opportunity to help test Connect HD 3.2.

There is a brand new beta that is pretty much a release candidate.

Download here : Connect HD 3.2 build 29

Build 29 works well on all Vegas releases. It includes more enhancements for M2T to AVI, MXF to AVI, AVI to AVI, whatever you have. These the upgrades over 3.0.4

• HDLink now supports conversion of common media types (now most files that play with Media Player can be converted with HDLink.) You good old DV, WMV or any miscellaneous AVI (some MOV) files can now be batch converted into CineForm Intermediate.
• HDLink now supports resizing of all sources to standard HD sizes. Previously you could up-convert SD, or any non-standard image size.
• Enhanced compression quality even further (across all encoding modes.)
• Connect HD now includes the After Effects CineForm I/O module, for higher quality control over CineForm AE exports.
• HDLink fix for long file batch M2T to AVI conversions
• Many many other small fixes and refinements

Although we expect more upgrades over the next month, we wish to get this solid version officially released for the benefit of all Connect HD users.

Hi David,

An initial test of playback and rendering from the Vegas 7 timeline shows that build 29 is working fine. I've yet to capture video using Connect HD build 29, however.

Thanks!
Keith

I good area to test is all the new conversion tools, such take a HD master AVI and resizing it to NTSC/PAL, or resizing 1080 to 720p or 720p to 1080, etc.

David,
Did an uninstall of 28 build and installed 29. when I tried to open I get the following message:
Cannot find import;DLL may be missing, corrupt, or wrong version File"MFC71.DLL",error 126

And just to confirm I uninstalled and reinstalled 3.2b 28 and opens fine.
Plus looking in both the cineform folder and the common files cineform folder I dont see that dll in either install.
But your the man on this stuff.. I leave it to you, maybe its something I'm missing in my system?

David,

resizing to standard HD size? More spezific, do you mean up to 1440x1080, or up to 1920x1080? My impression was that up to 1920x1080 was only available with Prospect HD?

Epirb,

Could you please get me the exact error message as none of our components should use MFC71.DLL (and yes we don't install that.)

Wolfgang,

You haven't encounted the Pansonic HVX, it captures 720p with 960 horizontal and 1080 with 1280 horizontal (for 60Hz systems.) This is what I'm am referring to for resizing to standard HD, as working in 960x720 doesn't make much sense. 1440x1080 is a standard size, it is part of the MPEG2 spec as a delivery format.

David that is the exact message I get upon install of the 29 release.
reinstall of 28 works fine.
what else should I provide you, or would you like me to turn in ticket to support.
I have a screen cap of the error if you wish.
David Newman wrote on 9/19/2006, 9:23 AM
Yes, submit a ticket with that screen capture.

Thanks

How good is resizing from SD to HD? Does it compare with some of the dedicated uprezzing programs? What are the differences in quality between resized interlaced and progressive SD footage? How does it compare to a Vegas uprez?

epirb,

Have you updated your OS to service pack 2? The MFC71.dll is supposed to be part of your Windows OS and installed by Microsoft within C:\WINDOWS\system32\MFC71.dll. Download a copy to see if it fixes the issue.

Laurence,

The scaling with have used is very good for both interlaced and progressive sources (progressive scale will have a quality advantage -- it always does.) It will up to the end user to determine which technique is best -- it is somewhat subjective for the higher quality scaling algorithms.

I had the same problem as epirb. I had to copy paste another file from another computer to make it work. I have all Xp updates and .net 2.0 installed. The file was missing after the 29 beta install.

OK, last question. Let's say you are working on an HDV 1080i timeline. Would there be any difference in the quality of the final 1080i output between SD clips uprezzed with HDLink and placed on the timeline vs regular SD DV clips on that same timeline?

If two you you have this issue, I glad I learned it is common Windows issue. The next build will install that Microsoft component.

Thanks guys.
