Hello

Vegas Movie Studio+DVD Platinum ships with “NewBlue VideoFX MSP, an exclusive collection of 107 video effects and transitions from NewBlue, Inc.

Can anyone answer these questions:

1. What are the differences between NewBlue VideoFX MSP and the NewBlue’s VideoFX packages (NewBlue Art Effects and NewBlue Motion Effects) from New Blue?

2. Is it possible to use the NewBlue VideoFX MSP as plug-ins in Vegas version 6 and / or 7?

Regards,
Joran

To be honest with you, I have no idea. Have you contacted them? I love their FX and use them often. Here is the site: http://www.newbluefx.com/

Good Luck!

I have upgraded from Vegas Movie Studio 6 to Movie Studio 7. The NewBlue effects that you get with the new version appear to be the entire NewBlue Art Effects package. I had downloaded the trial versions of both Art effects and Motion effects before I upgraded the Vegas software, and I don't see any difference between the Trial Art effects from NewBlue's website and the free plugins you get when you purchase VMS version 7 (except for the watermark, of course).

Since the list price to buy the art effects plugins directly from NewBlue is $89, upgrading from version 6 to version 7 for $49 appears to be a good deal.

The New Blue effects seem to only work in Movie Studio.
In Vegas they appear with a water mark.

Hello

This is the content of the The NewBlue VideoFX MSP collection and I quote from the Help file:

“The NewBlue VideoFX MSP collection for Vegas Movie Studio Platinum features a rich set of 10 specialized video effects and transitions. These plug ins shift your images into a visually-stunning alternate reality.

Seven video effects from the NewBlue Art Effects collection deliver visual techniques that will captivate your viewers and communicate your unique vision easily:

* Air Brush creates an air brushed effect by smoothing colors while maintaining sharp edges.

* Colorize reproduces the effect of a black and white picture that has been “colorized” by repainting over black and white with a simple palette of solid colors.

* Dream Glow amplifies the lighter regions of the image with light that bathes everything surrounding it.

* Duochrome applies two colors to a video image to create a special two-color-only image.

* Line Drawing converts the image into a series of dots and lines painted on a blank sheet of paper.

* Metallic paints the picture to look as if it were hammered out of metal.

* Pastel Sketch blends the picture with a predefined color and draws sharp lines around the edges.

NewBlue VideoFX MSP also includes three motion based video transitions:

* Shear transitions between two video clips by twisting the images with a shearing blur on two axes.

* Spin transitions between two video clips by rotating and blurring the image around any point in the picture.

* Wave transitions between two video clips by modulating the picture side to side in a rippling pattern oriented either vertically or horizontally.”

I upgraded to Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 7 for $35 (download version).

I agree with ‘bbgunn’: this is a good deal. In addition to the New Blue Art Effects package ($90), you get three configurable transitions (with a lot of presets).

And to ‘Pcamp/Paul’: On my PC, both the Art Effects (MSP) and the Transitions (MSP) works in Vegas 7 (trial) without watermarks. Are you sure you don’t use the Trial version of the NewBlue Art Effects?

Edit: All the MSP Effects and Transitions work in Vegas 6.d (without watermarks).
