I've been using Acid 6.0b (Build 305) in a professional situation, and its constant crashing has been a source of frustration and embarassment for quite a few weeks. After I disabled the following options in the preferences, the crashing has stopped: DISABLED: Create project file backups on save DISABLED: Enable Autosave DISABLED: Autotmatically detect plug-and-play CD/DVD drives DISABLED: Save media-usage relationships in active media library. DISABLED: Enable Media Manager. I have neither the time or resources to start debugging and figure out which of these options was causing the problem, but I'm posting it as an FYI for Sony, and as possible fix for anyone else experiencing constant random crashing. One possible cause: we use virtual drives (using the CLI "subst" command) on our systems so everyone uses the same drive letters for the same projects. Perhaps this can confuse Acid and it's Media Manager, as it builds real and virtual paths to the same media and projects. Angels. Message last edited on9/4/2006 1:28:37 PM byAngels. |

Well, not all crashes are gone. I got a crash with a popup bearing an X in a red circle, titled "ReWireDLL" with the following information: .\Portable\ReWireDLL.cpp(895) : VERIFY failure. I don't use ReWire at all. |

Could you please post your exact steps to get this error. ie:Add acid loop...add vst plugin...route to buss A...press play using spacebar...crash... That was only an example. The more detailed you are the quicker sony can repro and fix. Please post your system specs down to the letter:soundcard/driver version/video card/etc... What other apps do you have installed? Anything else running in the background? People have posted having problems with acid if sonar is installed after acid. Is the problem with plugins or vsti"s? During a mix session? Do you use any hardware control surface? [Mackie MCU] Ed. Message last edited on9/4/2006 5:23:48 PM bySHTUNOT. |

I am having the same problem which has been going on now since i installed acid 6b. i believe it happened before with 6a, and i can't identify any one thing that i am doing when it crashes. it does happen more frequently when waves plugins are in use in the project. i assume propellorhead is responsible, but i cant get anyone to help over there. very frustrating. i keep checking for an update to save me but no luck from anyone. please please help. thanks. -my error says .\Portable\ReWireDLL.cpp(893) : VERIFY Failure |

This ReWire DLL error dialog is presented when ever ACID exists due to a crash/bug/problem elsewhere. It has nothing to do with the cause of the problem, but merely a result of another problem. What we need to determine is what is actually causing ACID to crash on your system. If you can provide any details as to what you do in ACID prior to the appearance of these rewiredll error dialogs, that would help us to determine the cause. today i formatted ...this time I loaded my software one at a time. acid, reason, then my plugins one by one. i have the same error messages since loading my waves bundle, and ALL of my projects heavily use these plugins, so i dont have the option of avoiding them all together for now anyway. i know thats probably the root of the problem,,, not much i can do at this point i think untill waves or reason recognizes the issue i gues??? thanks pete for a speedy reply. obviously it has to do with Reason 3 but i cant really say what i'm doing before it crashes, it happens so inconsistantly. it is more frequent when i have larger projects, anything over 1000kb acd. file in size and it's about every 10-15 min. it definately always happens when i am moving a clip around, right after a save, or when scrolling or re-sizeing. basicly when i have a lot on my plate and i am right in the middle of everything! another funny thing when i get the errors the song will continue to play and the time counter keeps rolling, I am also able to usually save after the error pops up, then the program closes. after one crash, i am forced to restart my machine before i can re-open reason through acid. i can still use acid however reason is not an option in my soft synth choices after the error messages. ANYWAY thanks again for the fast reply, i am pretty sure what the problem is caused by, and i will need to edge away from those plugins if i can; at least untill i hear of an answer... in the mean time pete if you or anyone has a similar problem and comes up with a quick fix please let me know!!! thanks!!!! |

Thanks for the details. We are looking at other problems related to the Waves plugins. I don't believe this is a Reason related issue. We have looked at many Reason and ReWire related issues, and nothing we have seen can account for the issues/problems you are seeing. Peter |

I alos get the same error with ReWire.dll, and this happens rendering any project using VSTi's, not just with Reason. Acid is pretty much useless if one cannot render VST tracks! I will stick to using Cubase and ProTools until this problem is fixed, since I never have problems with those. |

OK, this is not so bad because on my other computer it renders tracks fine, and I tried much the same setup with Acid + Reason + VSTi's. |
