Subject:Routing loops to a keyboard - How???

I've just got a little microkorg and as a midi newbie, I was wondering how to save audio loops so they can be routed to the external keyboard to then be played and recorded on a track. I've sucessfully set up the korg in acid 6b already.

One other issue - probably easy - is once i've recorded a soft synth to a midi track - I get no playback volume at either the bus or track level?

thanks,
m7

Are you using the boxed version of ACID Pro 6? It comes with a sampler, a special edition of Native Instruments Kompakt for ACID Pro. It would do exactly what you want in regards to playing samples via your MIDI keyboard (and then some). Other soft synth samplers work in a similar fashion.

Not sure what's causing the other problem. Is the MIDI track in question routed to the soft synth? (The MIDI output for the track should be routed to the soft synth.)

Yeah, the mid output was not being routed to the soft synth bus. Thanks.

I didn't get the box set so I don't have Kompakt - yet. In the meantime, I do have
absynth and was wondering how (if possible) to enable it as a soft synth and or rewire device as it doesn't appear in the relavent preference tabs?

You don't need the 'boxed' version to get Kompact...comes with the download-able one as well....

for soom stupid reason I didn't get it when I downloaded the upgrade in May. I wonder if they'd still be willing to offer it up?

?

Kompakt's content is relatively enormous (at around 2.3 GB).

If you go to buy the downloadable version, they give you the option of picking up the Kompakt DVD (which is free, but shipping may apply).

@martin: Sure, you should be able to add ABSYNTH (provided it's installed properly). Go to Options > Preferences > VST Instruments and then browse to where the DLL is installed.

Thanks, I've emailed sony to see if they'll send it. In the meantime, is it possible to use the installed sony soft synth to play imported sounds/loops?

No, unfortunately. All the Sony DLS Soft Synth is is a basic soft synth with the more-traditional MIDI voicings. (They're still not that bad though.)

I'm sure Madison Media will send the Kompakt DVD to you provided you can confirm that you have the downloaded version.

When you do get it, be sure to check out the manual (in Adobe Acrobat format) should you have any questions. (It installs in the program folder along with Kompakt.)
