When you add a song, ACID's Beatmapper Wizard should launch. Follow the prompts and when you get to the end, make sure the "preserve pitch of the Beatmapped track when tempo changes" option is checked. Next, go into the Beatmapped clip's properties (Ctrl+Alt+3 is the shortcut). Click the Stretch tab and ensure the root note (key) of the Beatmapped file is set correctly. Then go back into the project and change the overall project's key to the desired key you want. What will happen is ACID will then stretch the Beatmapped track to the overall project key. Note that not all material stretches too well. You may notice some flamming or artifacting going on. If this is the case, go back into the clip properties and under the General tab, play with the various "mode" settings. If you have Sound Forge, its ACID loop creation tools will let you create a Beatmapped track, but it's more straightforward. You can simply set the root key and tempo if you know it beforehand. You then would simply bring the track into ACID without having to go through the Beatmapper Wizard. (I should also note that Sound Forge can also destructively alter the pitch of any audio you import via Effects > Pitch > Shift.) Iacobus |
