I am having problems with Acid Pro running on vista build 5384. I have installed .net 1.1 and 1.1 sp1. The program errors out when it attempts to load my VST plugins. I don't have any, so I'm not sure what is going on. Is there anything that I should know about Vista in regards to Acid Pro 6.0?

ACID 6 is not supported on Vista.

There have been changes to Vista - actually the removal of specific components - that ACID depends upon. We are aware of these issues and Microsoft is working with us to resolve these issues.

I just installed vista rc1 and acid is still broken. Apparently MS has not put the missing stuff back in.

Is sony going to provide and update with the missing components?

I would steer well clear of Vista for a few years at least - it is going to be a nightmare.

What exactly is to be gained by using Acid with Vista?

Why should Sony have to do anything and why would you even be asking this? The system requirements for Acid 6.0 are clearly listed everywhere - and Vista is NOT on that list. I

Vista is months away from being usable in any form let alone for audio work. Be smart - stick with XP and be happy.

I also have a bad feeling that Microsoft will not be bending over backwards to ensure the Sony apps run well on Vista, considering Sony is one of Microsoft's worst enemies now.

As the softies used to say in the the old days, "Windows ain't done 'till Lotus won't run".

Vista in its latest releases does not include specifics of an API that ACID requires. Microsoft is determining their strategy related to this. We are working closely with them.

Once MS decides their course for Vista we will respond as required.
