Subject:Assigning bus (insert?) to VSTi outputs in 6

Hi ...

I'm afraid the answer is: "You can't!"

I can't figurge our how to assign a bus, using it like an insert, to the VSTI outputs on a multitimbral instrument - specifically in Hypersonic 2. I can set up each output as a 'separate track' in the track window by clicking on the "Show bus tracks" on the VSTi.

But when I go to the track and expand it I don't see the slider for each bus as in an audio tracks above. If I click on the little square in the track header I can change the track output to the bus ... but I don't see any "wet/dry" adjustment and I don't see any activity in the channel in the bus where the effect has been assigned when I am playing the track.

I hope this is a clear explanation of what I am trying to do and what is happening.

If so ...is this a bug or am I missing something or is use of a bus as an 'insert' assignable to VSTi outputs not a feature of ACID Pro 6.0b? Or a work around?

Thanks

What you need to do is

- open the mixer view in ACID
- On the Hypersonic Bus in the mixer, right click.
- Select "Insert/Remove Hypersonic Outputs"
- Select the output buses that you want to add.

The sub bus of Hypersonic will be added to the mixer.

Repeat for all of the buses you want use from Hypersonic.

You can then work with each of these buses from the bus tracks.

Thanks for your quick response ... but I guess I wasn't very clear in my post.

I had already done everything you instruct before I posted my question. My question starts after that. After I have all my separate outputs from Hypersonic and I go to the 'track' view in the main window ... when I maximize the view of, for example Hypersonic output 2, I do not see the same slider for the bus that I see when I expand a clip with an audio loop. The only controls I see are for volume and pan.

Again. Am I missing something? Can you (or are you supposed to be able to if everything is working properly) be able to use a slider for a bus so that you can set a 'wet/ dry' mix?' That is, audio output from the VSTi 'sub' channel independent of some of the signal being sent through the bus?

When you say "- Select the output buses that you want to add" do you mean than in the mixer channel of the VSTi output you select the bus instead of the master? But then you are sending the entire signal and you can't 'wet/ dry' balance it. Do I understand corretly?

Thanks again.

If I understand you, then no, you can not do what you want.

You can route a softsynth bus to a bus directly, but you can't send the softsynths output as a "send" to another bus like you can an audio track.

In other words, ACID does not support bus sends to other buses.

This functionality will be considered for a future version of ACID.

Thanks,
Peter

Thank you for your response.

Yes you understand me ... but I apologize for making it so hard to understand me when I said "insert" when I meant to say "send."

The feature I request would be valuable.

Yes, I agree.

Thanks,
