Intermittent MIDI Playback of VSTi's -ACID Product Family

I can enable inline MIDI editing and play the keyboard and hear sound, but the parts I just tracked, though I can see them, are not playing back. This is the first time I took the time to post about it, but I have had this happen periodically during this first project with ACID 6. Suddenly playback will start again without my changing any settings. I am not sure what will spur this revival. Hmm... I just drew a new note in to see if that would play back as I drew it, and it played. Then I checked the playback, and now it is working again. Using an FM7 in this case, but have had it happen with other VSTi's. Any ideas as to what causes this?
