Subject:5.0 mp3 PLUG IN

It's been covered here before, but why should I have to give personal info to get this very valuable feature to continue working. The product packaging plainly states that .mp3's are a supported import format, with no indication that there is a time limit for how long it will work before the consumer is forced to register the plug-in.

I hear that they need to keep track as they license the plug-in from another company, but frankly that's not my problem and I was not informed of this "requirement" at purchase.

If these corps. have such a problem with pirated software, how about reward us decent ones who actually pay for the product?
I may sound bitter, but I've spent hundreds of dollars on Sonic Foundry/Sony products over the years, and feel that this is enough. I get offended when companies bully info out of consumers with these underhanded techniques. Being that I am not online, it is hard for me to get to an online computer to spend the ammount of time it takes to rectify these situations.

I was unable to enter a radio production contest because of this unexpected cessation of the MP3 plug-in. The contest was based on using downloaded .mp3's of a radio program as material for a production piece. Needless to say this was impossible after the "gimme your info" blockout happened at the worst time. It's irritating at the least that I bought a product and it cheated me when I needed it most.
