Hi I am experiencing a constant hum/whistle when i play back a recording. I'm sure other people have experienced this. Does anyone have any ideas as to how to remove this, can i use noise reduction? This is my first experience of using sound forge hence the basic question. I have tried using different PC's without success. Thanks Daryl |

It is unlikley SF or software is causing this. This most likley is a ground, cable or soundcard issue. Be sure sure your are using good quality shielded cables. "Ground loops" often cause 50-60 Hz hum. Check your PC, mixer or other connected audio gear for ground and ground pins on the A/C connection. |

> am experiencing a constant hum/whistle Which is it? Or is it both? > Does anyone have any ideas as to how to remove this, can i use > noise reduction? You probably could have some success this way, but you have another problem you should address. > I have tried using different PC's without success. Ah! Your problem is something common to everything you've tried, which eliminates any specific computer or software! Come back and tell us what you're trying to record and how you have it connected. |

I have a microphone connected to a PC, is this the issue? Probably. What soundcard and mic do you have? (Balanced or un-balanced, high or Low impedance? What input are you using on the soundcard? Many soundcards have line level inputs also which would not work with microphones. |
