Subject:How do I get past the VST scanning?

Just installed 6.0a but AP6 just disappears after spending an eternity scanning the VSTplugins folder. No error message came up and none of these plugins cause any problems with Ableton Live 5. So I'm not convinced the problem is due to a rogue plugin but more something strange with AP6. I don't want to rename the plugins folder as that'll create problems for Live. Help, please.

Try this: (This assumes you have not configured ACID to scan additional directories for VST/VSTis)

- Rename your default VST plugin filder so you can get ACID past this phase of the start up.

-Once ACID has launched, rename the folder back to its normal name
- go to the preferences for VST Instruments. This should show no VSTis
- Hit the refresh button and let ACID scan.

Does it complete? Do any errors occur?

If everything completes. Click OK or Apply and then go to the VST FX preferences page.

Click the refresh button.

Does ACID complete the scan for VST FX? Do any errors get reported?

Hi Peter,

That's helpful. No error messages on scanning VST instruments or VST FX and program does then start ok. However, I can't deselect any of the VST instruments in preferences: L mouse click does zilch; R mouse click gives a 'use alternate drawing method' message. VST FX select and deselect fine.

Regards,
David

The deselect issue is known. It will be addressed in a future update.

I replied:
Damn, I can't wait for this update. I gave up on A6a because of some of the things I've been reading here that I have also been having problems with. Spent the better part of an entire day instaliing A6 and then the update, mucking about with moving and re-adding VST's to folders, etc., just to get Acid to boot up completely.

And one more thing: is there any way to get a quote functtion when replying to a post, other than having to do a manual copy and paste? Just about every other forum has this, along with the ability to have a signature automatically applied to a post.

Jack
