Me again.

Is there a way to not have .SFK files created everytime you edit a file in Sonar or CD Architect. I looked under Preferences, but couldn't find anything.

Are these files necessary after saving to a .wav or .mp3 file?

Thanks for your help.l

"Peak" or .sfk files are used to optimize waveform drawing. They are persisted next to the file because they can be shared between SMS applications.

If you don't want them to persist, delete the existing ones, then go to Options->Preferences->General and check "Delete temporary files on close".

When you open a file with this pref enabled and no valid .sfk exists, a new one will be built in Sound Forge's temp directory and deleted when no longer in use. This means you'll have to wait for peaks to build every time you open the file in Forge.
