Subject:Acid 6.0 Effects Issue...Pls Help.

Hi, First post and would'nt you know I come in with my hands out...thanks for listening and maybe offering some tips.

I have Acid 6.0a. I can't insert more than one effect, be it Sony, Waves Plug Ins, etc. If I try to assign a 2nd effect to a track, it just changes the first track to that effect, and I do not see an additional Effect #2 slider in the track view.

I came from Acid 4.0 on an upgrade, and 4.0 would let me just keep assigning effects until my PC crashed. Has something changed in 6.0???...I find little in the hardcopy or online manual, or even in these forums about an issue like this. Probobly something I am overlooking, but I can't suss it yet.

Thanks for any suugestions....

This is gonna sound retarded - but, when adding effects, did you select "ok" after "add" in that box thingee? Cuz you have to.

(I was frustrated re: the same thing)

No, it's a good question.

When I originally posted, I had a problem adding more than one effect. I figured that out by using 'Insert Track FX"

I can get the effects in there. Now,my problem is that I can see no way to adjust the effect wet / dry level when inserting Track FX ( as opposed to insert assigneable effect )

Say I insert two different plug ins on track 1 by utilizing "Insert Track FX". There are no adjustable sliders for FX 1 and 2 under volume and pan in the track view.

In 4.0 I did not have to use busses and assignemnts etc...I could add as many effects as I wanted to a single track, and a effects level slider would appear for each one in the track view.

Again, I am probobly missing something obvious, but I did not see it covered in the online manual, hard copy manual, or in a search of old posts here on this forum.

Thanks ....I will keep playing with it. If you think of anything else, or if anyone else has any ideas, pls pass them on...

I’m not sure what your background is so a comparison to a hardware mixing console may or may not clear this up for you, but assignable FX and Track FX are two different things:

A Track FX is like an Insert on a mixer. The entire dry track is patched through the FX and the entire wet FX is routed back to the track. You can control the mix of dry to wet from within the FX but multiple FX are in a chain so ALL of the output previous FX is routed to the input of the next FX!

An Assignable FX is like an Aux Send on a mixer. Some of the track audio is sent to the FX but none of it is returned. It gets summed at the Aux bus. All of the dry track continues to be routed to the track. Each Assignable FX gets the dry track separately (i.e., no chaining unless you chain assignable FX which is also possible) You control the dry wet mix from the track send fader and the assignable FX bus output.

You can still insert as many Assignable FX as you want in ACID Pro 6. The Track only has one fader that is shared by all assignable FX. If you have more than one assignable FX and you click on the label FX1:, you will see a dropdown to select one of the other assignable FX. Then the fader controls the amount of track signal that is sent to that FX.

You insert more assignable FX using the Insert Assignable FX button over the buses or use the menu item: Insert > Assignable FX... You may have to make increase the height of the audio track to see this new FX fader.

Thanks.

I will mess with this when I get home to my PC with Acid on it and re-read, and attempt to understand.
