Is there a way to install Acid Pro 6 without it scanning my VST file. I would like to create a separate VST file just for AP6.

Windows xp sp2..btw

edit the registry, maybe?

Thank you for any help.

Riley

I want to skip it because I have allot of plugins and when I tried to install the demo of Acid in the past it would get to the folder and crash.. So, I want to skip it and just have a few plugins available in Acid.
I will be installing Acid Pro 6 tonight.. According to my UPS tracking number.. :)

I will only be installing the latest version and using my serial number, I will not be using the DVDs. I already have the full version of Kompakt, it came with Komplete 3.

I would really like to be able to use AP6 as my 5.1 mixing station with seldom use of non-native plugins.

I know there is something in the registry that can be done, something like create a dummy vst file for it to look at..

Anyone hear of doing that?

Thanks! Riley

There is a key under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software called VST. It has a string value called VSTPluginsPath. You can modify it to point to an empty directory or export it so you can put it back later and delete it.

The library with the Sony Kompakt is different from the factory Kompakt library. The files won't load in the full Kompakt until the Sony Kompakt is registered and opened at least once.

The easiest way to do it, is to temporarily rename the default VST folder that ACID Pro looks for, to say VstPlugins1.

Located here:

C:\Programs Files\VstPlugins

Thank you, that did the trick. Now I can add VSTs one at a time and remove the ones that don't work with AP6.

Mahtazz!
Yes, I'm here too. Back I should say. I quit acid at 3.0 and just kept trying to use it every new version but I just could'nt keep it running long enough to finish a thought.
I have hope now, this Hkey work around should be in the setup guide.
It's frustrating to watch AP6 look through the VST folder then just vanish!!
Then reboot it, it comes all the way up, and none of your VSTs are there.
Anyway, this work around is good. FL6 and Live 5 both let me tell them where the "real" VST folder is...the great thing is they remember where it is!!
I started a tune this morning in AP6 using Kontak 2 and I really enjoyed the workflow, it was like seeing an old friend. I closed it then opened it later and all of the instruments I loaded into Kontakt were gone!
This could make for some serious extra work?

How's XPhraze treating you? Did you get the SWA video tutorial?
