Subject:VST´s CRASHES ACID PRO 6a

After reformatting my disc and upgrading my OS from sp1 to sp2 (Also downloading all windows updates) and reinstalling all my applications (Also updated) I get a blue screen while using my Powercore Firewire and Amplitube 2 VST´s. I saw some threats about the same issues in the forum but didn´t really find any answers or workaround on this problem. I never had these problems in AP5d and now my production is stopped. Ever heard about murphy´s law :-)

Anyway I need an answer on this problem and hope that Someone will answer soon.

What does the Blue Screen tell you cause the exception? Is there a file or function call listed?

When you restart Windows, does the Windows recovery dialog tell you what happened?

What version of the Powercore software?
What version of Amplitube ? (Exact rev, not just version 2)

FWIW:
ACID cannot cause a Blue Screen, only hardware/kernel drivers/code can do this. ACID talks to the VST. In this case, the communication between ACID and the VST is through a kernel mode function of the VSTi/Hardware. So, the failure is occuring in the kernel code of the Powercode/Amplitube.

Have you also reported this problem to the Powercore/Amplitube devs?

I dont' know if we have Amplitube for the Powercore in house, but I will check.

I´ll go reproduce the error and try to see if i can get a glance of the text in the bluescreen (it reboots after a second or two and tells me that it recovered after a serios error). I just updated to PoCo 200b12 But havent reported the error to TC-electronics. (Iwill do that) Im not running Amplitube2 through the PoCo (dont know if that is possible)but installed it into the VST folder. Amplitube2 also causes a serious delay and uses all my cpu power just like the VSTs in the PoCo.

We will attempt to reproduce.

If you do contact TC or Amplitube, I would be interested in what they tell you. (I have sent some emails out to them, but honestly, I don't expect a response.)

You can make the Blue Screen display by

- Right click on My Computer and select Properties.
- Select the Advanced Tab
- Select the "Startup and Recovery" Settings button

In the system failure section, uncheck "Automatically restart".

This will prevent Windows from rebooting your machine on a BSOD.

Note that you will have to manually restart you machine after the failure.

Thanks
Peter

This is the note on the blue screen:

Here is the recovery data:

Error signature:

Hope that it will help getting the problem fixed.

I don´t think I understood the mail-thing :-/
Anyway has anyone seen these errors working with Acid 5d???

1.
Header: Rewire DLL
Warning: \Portable\ReWireDLL.cpp(893) : VERIFY failure
Checkbox: OK

2.
Header: Rewire DLL
Warning: \Portable\ReWireDLL.cpp(895) : VERIFY failure
Checkbox: OK

3.
Header: Rewire DLL
Warning: \Portable\ReWireDLL.cpp(1208) : VERIFY failure
Checkbox: OK

4.
Header: Rewire DLL
Warning: \Portable\ReWireDLL.cpp(3544) : VERIFY failure
Checkbox: OK

It keeps poppin up and when I press ok, the next one pops up. Then it ends with something like:”The program has unexpectedly quit.. Could not read/written”. And then the program closes down.

My Acid pro 6a crashes (blue screen) so i stopped using it and went back to 5d.

These ReWire error reports are not directly related to the problem. They are produced by the ReWire Subsystem supplied by Propellerheads and are the result of any crash/exception with in ACID. They have nothing to do with the root cause of your problem, then are just a result of the problem.

Again, ACID cannot directly cause a Blue screen crash only drivers can cause this.

Please click on my name here and send me an email as I'd like to work with you to determine what is causing the problem.

Have been following this thread, and thought I'd offer my own two cents. I see the original poster mentioned having Amplitube2. A2 uses the Pace/Ilok dongle setup that has been known to cause problems in otherwise functioning systems. This is probably one of the WORST copy protection systems in existence (sp?).

Second thought - the Powercore likes to be on it's own Firewire port with the TI FW chipset being the preferred chipset. If you must run the PoCo on a shared FW port, make sure it's the first inline. Trust me - I've found that out after much experimentation.
