Subject:Recording "acidized" loops

I am an ACID Pro user and am trying to figure out how the "acidized" wave loops that are commercially available are created. I am a musician and would like to create my own loops which include information about key, etc. but have no idea what software can be used to do that. Does SoundForge have that capability? If not, does anyone know how it is done.

Sound Forge is definitely the easiest way to add Acidized metadata, as far as I know.

FL Studio can also create Acidised loops.

Properly ACIDizing custom loops requires some know-how on how ACID works as well as some general knowledge considering ACIDization.

As a general rule, some material doesn't stretch so well when stretched to other tempos and keys. (Distorted guitar can sound flammed and unnatural when stretched, for example.) To remedy this, you can play around with the stretch properties of the ACIDized loop, which can really help to eliminate unwanted artifacts.

The quickest, simplest way to ACIDize is to record your material, then set the Loop Region over the area of the recording you'd like to keep. Then render to a new track (CTRL+M) using the "render loop region only" option. ACID will automatically ACIDize the rendered audio with the project's overall tempo and key.

There's can be a lot more to it than that. Sound Forge, for example, has a few handy tools to help you tweak your loop, but that also can open up a can of worms; by altering the length, even by a few milliseconds, can produce artifacts you might not have intended.

John Rofrano (JohnnyRoy) and I wrote a book on ACID Pro 5 not too long ago. There's a chapter on ACIDizing in there as well as some tips for preparing custom samples for ACIDization.

Even though there's nothing in there on ACID Pro 6's new features, the process of ACIDization is still very much applicable to the new version of ACID Pro.
