Hello all Is anyone using the above USB interface for vocal / instrument recording? It looks like a sturdy little box with phantom power & various tube pre-amp simulators, plus guitar & bass simulators. I love my PODxt-live (solid as a rock!) - just wanted to check whether line 6's audio interfaces are equally reliable and would work with Acid Pro 4. It's a USB interface - is this a bad thing for latencies etc? Cheers LD |

I can't say about the performance with ACID Pro 4, ( I have not used it in ages, well years) but I've been using my UX2, with ACID Pro 6 and for a USB audio device, I could not be happier with the performance. The ASIO drivers are rock solid and capable of latencies, as low, as 128 samples (2.9msec). The ACID Pro 6 audio engine has been revamped and optimized, for multi-threaded dual core CPU's and low latencies and using the TonePort @ 2.9msec is a piece, of cake. As I recall, ACID Pro 4's ASIO was performance was not all that great. I think the lowest latency you could get was 256 samples (5msec). If your audio card and CPU is capable you can even get ACID Pro 6's ASIO down to 32 samples (1msec)! The ACID Pro 6 new audio engine simply ROCKS! It is the best, bang for the buck, audio device, on the market. If you are interested, I wrote an extensive TonePort review, that may give you a better understanding, of it's capabilities and usage, in a DAW environment: http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.asp?m=642117&mpage=1&key=toneport Cheers, Billy Buck Message last edited on7/12/2006 6:24:15 AM bybillybk. |

Billy, That was an excellent review of the TonePort UX2. I’ve been looking for a new interface for my laptop and have been eyeing the M-Audio USB units (I’ve had good luck with M-Audio interfaces) but this looks like a contender as well. ~jr |

Yes, not only do you get a great portable USB low latency ASIO audio device, but you get all those great Line 6 guitar & bass amps/cabs/fx and (6) mic preamp emu's included, as well. If you have been following the latest news, at Summer Namm, Line 6 has announced a GearBox 2.0 update that will further expand the TonePorts capabilities. There will additional amps & cabs added. You will be able to add the new Bass Expansion module. A new collapsable "Browser" view will be added to the GearBox GUI. Which will include among other things, a programmable metronome, a player module & access to GuitarPort Online. The control panel has been revamped, as well. This should be available, for download, in the next 30 days. Line 6 has also addressed, probably the biggest gripe Line 6 users (PODxt, GuitarPort, TonePort) and prospective users, have had and that is the inclusion, of bonafide VST PLUGIN VERSIONS, of all of their exisiting library, of amps/cabs/fx. This will be available, in the Fall, as a paid for upgrade, to all exisiting PODxt, GuitarPort & TonePort users. Now we will have the ability to re-amp with that great Line 6 tone: http://line6.com/gearbox_plugin/ Another interesting development, is a new keyboard version, of the TonePort.: http://line6.com/toneport/kb37.html Cheers, Billy Buck |
