Native Instruments is having a big sale for it’s 10 year anniversary and is offering 50% off on all their soft synths. This includes upgrade offers! I just upgraded from Kontakt 1.1 to Kontakt 2.0 (I skipped 1.5) for $69 USD!!! I also upgraded my NI B4 for the new B4 II for only $39. If you have any of their software and have been on the fence about upgrading to the latest version, now is a good time to take advantage of this sale. Even if you don’t own their software they are still taking 50% off of the regular price. Disclaimer: I have no affiliation at all with Native Instruments. I’m just a happy customer of their software. ~jr |

Not exactly true. I've been holding off on buying Reaktor 5 till a good deal came along. NI are not budging on the price on this one. If someone finds a amazing price on it somewhere let me know. Though I highly recommend absynth 3...WOW. Definitely get the tutorial DVD too so that the learning curve won't be so bad. I think it's really good. BTW...Now that Akoustik piano 1.1 finally came out I'm a happy customer. Ed. |

The only experience I have with NI is the Kompakt that came with Acid 6.0... I would like to learn more about samplers and get better sounds from my keyboard for recording audio/midi tracks into 6.0... what NI product would you recommend for this? Thanks! |

The next move up from Kompakt is Kontakt. (I know the names are very close and always confusing). Kontakt 2 is the latest version. It is a full blown sampler not just a sample player like Kompakt. This means you can create new instruments from raw samples. I have version 1 and I’m very happy with it. I also have version 2 on order but it hasn’t arrived yet. :( Kontakt is extremely powerful and the discount (which I took advantage of) makes it very attractive. ~jr |

Sorry for not responding sooner. I don't own the grand so I can't make a comparison. I always wanted a classic piano vsti and akoustic just sounded like what I needed. Nice demo songs. Before version 1.1 there was a bug that would creep up when trying to record piano parts. It's been fixed in 1.1. Sound wise it impresses the hell out of me. I'm amazed at how far we've come with vsti's. The guys on the akoustic forums are hardcore piano types that have been ripping this plugin apart from the start. They were very harsh with a few issues with the sound. It seems it has been resolved in the 1.1 update. Most seem happy with it. I wish I could have gotten absynth 3 for this new price. I think it's a no brainer. Ed. Message last edited on7/31/2006 12:34:31 AM bySHTUNOT. |
