Subject:Latency with Digi002

Well, I'm not entirely sure what did it, but not I'm getting a respectable, albeit mono, signal going thru the digi002 as my sound card into ACID. However, when I monitor my input while I'm recording, I have a really annoying amount of latency. I sound like a Ventures record. Can anyone tell me around what the latency should be to prevent this and where I edit the settings? Thanks! Rick |

you have to look at the audio tag. There should be a way to set the latency for the 002, I am not in front of my setup so I can't tell you exactly. But you should be able to set it to something like 512 or lower depending on you computer. I have the same set up and I have it set pretty low, and don't hear too much delay. |

ok, in Pro Tools 6.4, I went into the playback engine and set the digi002 settings to: H/W Buffer Size: 128 samples; CPU Usage Limit: 75%; and DAE Playback Buffer: Size: Level 1. Does that sound right? Thanks, Rick |

I'm still having a lot of latency and I'm not sure whether it's from ACID or the digi002 (or both?!). Sounds like a super heavy reverb is on my voice as I sing along with my song in ACID. Also, I can't get a decent volume on my voice as I listen to it along with the song playing in ACID. When I had this problem before (diff. machine, Echo Indigo I/O sound card), lowering the master in ACID made the track being recorded relatively louder in the headphones. This doesn't seem to be the case using the digi002. I've fiddled with the monitor level and headphone level knobs on the digi002... no dice. |

Changing the buffer size in ProTools will not affect the ASIO latency that ACID uses. You need to set the 002 latency from with in ACID. You do this by selecting the ASIO drivers for the -002 in ACID and then applying this change. Then click the Advanced button. This will take you to a dialot that will permit you to configure the sample frame size for the ASIO drivers. This is covered in both the help and ACID manual, though not specifically for the DIGI hardware. Peter |

Thanksfor the latency tips. Will try tonight. Any idea why the level in my headphones is so low of the signal I'm recording? Makes singing/monitoring hard. -Rick Message last edited on7/18/2006 9:01:31 AM byspinweb. |

ACID does not control the input level of any hardware, so I have no idea. I don't have an 002 (my 001 works with out a hitch). Do you get a proper signal in PTools in your headphone? With the 001 it is very simple to control the headphone mix as there is a knob to adjust this. The 002 is a bit more complex. I would suggest you review the manual on the 002. It sounds like you are doing something fundamentally wrong in configuring your 002. Sorry I can't be of more help on this. Peter |

Selected 128 samples (I think), based on the ProTools manual which suggested 128-256. Then I tried to play my file in ACID and nothing came out! Put the settings back to what they were originally and my file played fine. -Rick |

When you set them to 128 and you hit play in ACID, do the Meters in ACID's mixer page move? Peter |

Yes, I believe they did, but I reset it back to the default now. |
