Subject:ACID 6 compatibility with Cakewalk's Rapture?

Anybody using ACID 6 Pro with Cakewalk's Rapture? I've downloaded the demo version of Rapture just to check things out, but after recording in ACID seem to be having a problem with MIDI playback, i.e., I get no sound.

Although it seems to record, sometimes I don't get any sound even while recording.

I had a somewhat similar problem (not just playback, but losing the connection between the keyboard and the synth frequently) with Proteus X LE, but it largely went away after disabling ACID's auto-save feature.

Anyone know if this thing with Rapture is a known problem, if it's being worked on, or? But of course, it may not be ACID or Rapture at all.

I'm very, very, very new to ACID and this whole VSTi enterprise so it may just be the way I have things configured. If anyone thinks so, I'd appreciate step-by-step as to what to look for (very step-by-step; like I said I'm very, very new, i.e., with no previous experience, I've only been at this for a few weeks!).

Thanks in advance for any constructive comments.

Hey, welcome to ACID. It can be a bit overwhelming, at first, especially if you have not had any previous experience. You may want to consider the excellent ACID Pro 6 multi-disk DVD tutorial set to help get you up to speed. There are also some example video's that you can look at, as well:

I am not sure why you are not getting MIDI playback with Rapture. From your post, it seems it has more to do with how your Keyboard/MIDI interface and/or ACID is configured, than a problem with Rapture.
Are you able to use (record & playback) ACID's own Sony DLS softsynth? You may want to review the "Working with MIDI" chapter, in the ACID Pro 6 Online Help. In particular, the "Routing Tracks to SoftSynths", "Recording MIDI", "Using External MIDI Devices" & "Using Soft Synths" sub-chapters.

I have used Rapture (recording & playback), with ACID Pro 6, in the past, without any problems.

Cheers,

Billy Buck

>>I had a somewhat similar problem (not just playback, but losing the connection between the keyboard and the synth frequently) with Proteus X LE, but it largely went away after disabling ACID's auto-save feature<<

There is a problem with the EMU softsynths - Proteus and Emulator, both versions 1 and 2 - that cause a save failure/exception internally. This manifests itself in two ways:

1. The synth goes silent after any type of ACID project save.
2. The project save is corrupt in that the EMU VSTis will not load correctly on subsequent project loads.

EMU has confirmed this problem in these VSTis. They are working on a solution.

Thanks for the reply. I don't think I've even tried the DLS softsynth yet. I'll check that out and all your other suggestions. Thanks again.

Peter,

Thanks for the comments. I had already contacted E-MU about it, and their support has confirmed what you said. A rep said they were working with Sony to resolve the problem. Thanks again.

It's really nice to know that Sony are getting these types of problems resolved and telling us about it. I appreciate the feedback as it makes me aware that ACID 6 is having any problems ironed out properly this upgrade.
