Subject:How do I tell what MIDI file a clip is from?

When working on older Acid projects that created MIDI files (Acid4&5), I am trying to find out from what MIDI file a given clip is from. I check the clip properties, and in the clip pool but can't find that information anywhere.

Is it possible to tell, or does Acid 6 integrate all the MIDI files and do away with any references to the outside files?

Yes, ACID just imports the MIDI data and never concerns itself with the mid file. (Actually ACID 4/5 also behaved this way, but we had an architectual reason for maintaining a back hook to the file.)

However, I can see that knowing what the file was you imported could be useful. I will add this to my list (ever growing<g>) of issue to look at for future versions.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply.

It's interesting you mention that Acid4/5 worked this way also, because I ran into a situation recently where I went to open an older Acid project in Acid5 and it could not locate a particular MIDI file (it was not on the drive for some reason). Acid 5 showed the clip as blank since it could not find the file. But, when I opened the same project in Acid 6, it gave me the same error message on loading, but then the actual clip was all there complete! (Now I think I understand why)

ACID 5 doesn't really need the file. You could just make a dumby empty midi file, name it correctly, and place it in the correct dir and ACID 5 should load fine. A legacy thing that was harder to remove from ACID 5 than it was to kill it off once and for all in ACID 6.
