Subject:Acid 6.0a crashing constantly

At first it wouldn't get through the splash screen. Then I tried disabling the dll for plugins. (read this in some posts way back). It loaded fine. Then I reenabled the dll for plugins and disabled the dll for softsynths. It loaded fine again! Then I reenabled both dlls and . . the thing loaded! Crazy. But then it crashed. Then it would load every once in a while, but sometimes not (mind you I have actually been able to do no actual work so far). So I deinstalled most softsynths and plugins, but not all (i.e. not the ones that came with my copy of Samplitude Pro (8.3). Now, I am getting the same thing, sometimes it doesn't load, sometimes it does. But invariably, once it loads, with a couple of minutes (even inactive) it crashes. Also, when it loads, every time I close it, it crashes without fail on the exit. Here is the crash report it generated last when I exited. Please advise. You probably have some VST/VSTi plugins that are not playing nice. Try renaming the default VST plugins folder, so you can at least get ACID to open. Upon opening ACID will look in and re-scan (Refresh)any plugins, in the C:\Program Files\VSTPlugins folder. Try right clicking on the folder and temporarily rename it VSTplugins1. Once ACID is open, you can rename the folder back to VSTplugins and then go to the ACID Properties|VST Effects tab and try doing a re-scan(Refresh). Do the same thing for the VST Instruments tab. Once you have had a sucessful scan, click Apply Ultimately, you may need to find what plugin or plugins is causing ACID problems through a process, of elimination. Temporarily move your plugin dll''s out of your VSTplugins folder and do several rescan's, if need be. Cheers, Billy Buck Message last edited on6/30/2006 2:31:02 PM bybillybk. |

I tried disabling the plugins. Didn't work. Still keeps crashing. Seems to only happen when the trackview is zoomed in past a certain point. Strange. |
