I want to be able to playback audio while recording vocals. Is this a function of the software? or is it a function of the sound card? If it is a function of the software, can it be done with ACID? Any help for this newb would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Karmaa |

This is a function of the software and yes it can be done in Acid or most any other software that has multitrack recording/playback capabilities. Seeing that you have to be a registered user of a Sony product to post in the forums, which Sony software are you currently using, so we could give you further advice? |

How to accomplish this is very dependant on your sound card. If you're using a typical soundblaster or built-in audio card then you can go to the sound card's mixer control panel, turn up the playback volume on both wave and line in, then in the recording mixer select line in and turn up the recording volume on line in. Now when you record you will add whatever comes in the line in port to the new record even/track and whatever else is already on the timeline will be played through the line out or speaker port. Other sound cards may have rather more complicated procedures. |

Im using an old card. Turtle Beach - Santa Cruz. I could have sworn I used this card a few years ago to do the same thing with some Magix software. But I lost the Magix software a long time ago, and it may not have been this sound card. |

Some older cards are not full-duplex, meaning you can’t record and playback at the same time but this is very rare. I’m not sure about the Turtle Beach card but just make sure it is not half-duplex only (i.e., make sure it is a full-duplex card). ~jr |
