My goal is to be able to play my keys through Kompakt (which came with the Acid 6.0 upgrade) using the supplied samples to record into Acid and listen to through my monitors... I purchased a M-Audio midisport 1x1... loaded in the driver (no problems)... connected the midisport to my computer (the new hardware was recognized and the computer shows that all is working properly)... connected midi out on my keyboard to midi in on my midisport... turn the keyboard on and it only plays the sounds of the keyboard itself, not the sampler... so I add a cable between midi in on the keyboard and midi out on the midisport (is this connection neccesary?) ... still the same (only the sounds of the keys and not the sampler)... can any one tell me what step(s) I missed, what connections do I have incorrect, or whatever I need to do, to get this to work? ... Thanks!

You shouldn't need the midi out from the M-Audio back to your keyboard. You would only need this if you wanted software to playback sounds on the keyboard itself. You're problem sounds like you need to go into your keyboard's midi settings and turn local control off, and set the midi out channel to omni.

Hope this helps.

I turned the voices off on the keyboard but still no sound comes through Kompakt into the monitors... and the keyboard manual explained how to set the "external clock" - this made the green light above the midi-in jack on top of the M-Audio midisport constantly blink... it previously was on, just not blinking... so, something's happening... just no sound yet. Thanks for the help.

I see under Preferences... under the MIDI tab... hardware port out and in are not checked... says "not enabled" ... does that have anything to do with this problem? ...but after I check them there is no where to select "apply"... when I close the Preferences window and reopen it... it's back to being "not checked"... anybody know how to save selections in this window?

It could be bugs in the Acid software. Check out my reply to the other thread regarding Kompakt in Acid 6
