Open ACID Pro 6.0. Insert a MIDI track. Click Insert / Soft Synth. Choose Kompact Sony ACID Pro edition.

Thanks Cheinworks! Now if I only knew what this thing does...
I've used Acid for a long time... doin' the one man band thing... playing every instrument in the song... I've always run everything through my mixer... I've never worked with a sampler or midi... Thanks for your help!... I'll figure it out sooner or later.

Hi:

when I first got into midi, i didn't really know much about it either. went to this site:

www.tweakheadz.com

got tons of good, well written tutorials, mixing, midi, etc. and some "fairly recent" reviews on the major sequencers and soft syths.

Pretty good place to start, at least for me it was.

peace

I'm owner of Kompakt full and my question is: both will conflict?

Plinio: The version of Kompakt for ACID Pro is totally optional; you don't have to install it if you don't want to. (It's on its own DVD.) Since you have the full version of Kompakt, there's really no need to anyway.

I'm pretty much in the same boat. Just getting into MIDI after years of working in the analog domain - the old analog dog is trying to learn some new digital tricks. I had the same issue with Kompakt. Got the keyboard hooked up with an M-Audio MIDISport Uno. I can get the keyboard to control a variety of the NI Express instruments (except for the pitch wheel and vector stick) but can't get it to do anything with Kompakt.

I've no clue why and I'm struggling with the whole MIDI/sampler/sequencing thing. I've used Acid since version 3 but this is my first foray into all of the MIDI stuff and, frankly, I'm a MIDIot.

I am checking the forums today to see how many other folks are having these sorts of problems with the Acid midi functionality. I have tons of midi experience over twenty years, and I have several soft synths and hosts that I access with my midi keyboard regularly and without issue, but since installing Acid 6a and the Kompakt software I have been tormented by bugginess in Acid's midi implementation. Occasionaly I get perfect midi when I first start Acid and setup a soft synth and midi track. Then, quite randomly, I will lose control of the soft synth. I can still hear the sample if I click on the virtual keyboard in Kompakt, but my midi controller stops triggering the samples. I have tried every conceivable variation of settings and routing and the problem persists. I am using the midi I/O on an M-Audio FireWire 410. I have all the latest drivers. SO, perhaps your trouble is inherint in the software at this point and not the dreaded PEBCAC that it would seem.
