Right-click on the clip and select properties. The clip properties dialog has an option to pitch shift in semitones (cents). ~jr Message last edited on6/15/2006 6:08:11 AM byJohnnyRoy. |

I thought I had seen the option to be able to tune to cents but it appears to only be used for midi settings, like pitch bend. I couldn't find a setting or option to change audio at the cent level. Since it will do semitones so easily, it seems like it could do cents easily also, but... Maybe someone from Sony will reply. FYI, a semitone is 100 cents. 1200 cents to an octave. Just my 2 cents. (sorry, couldn't resist) Message last edited on6/15/2006 5:25:49 PM byDrLumen. |

It does seem like the option to pitch-shift beat-mapped tracks has disappeared. Maybe it was never there, I can't remember... |

"It does seem like the option to pitch-shift beat-mapped tracks has disappeared. Maybe it was never there, I can't remember..." Regardless of whether or not it was ever there, it SHOULD be there. I was working on a project yesterday and couldn't believe this wasn't possible. I'm so used to working in Vegas - a quick right click and do what you want with it. Perhaps its available in Acid 6 but I couldn't find it either. drbam |

You can change pitch of beatmapped track - but - you have to select the "preserve pitch" thingee when it is originally b/mp'd...or just re-beatmap the track...and that right-click option is available again. I have no idea why it's done like this - discovered it by accident, myself. |

"You can change pitch of beatmapped track - but - you have to select the "preserve pitch" thingee when it is originally b/mp'd" Intuitively, that is totally ass-backwards for me! I purposely did not select it because I was assuming that if the pitch was preserved I would NOT be able to pitch-shift later. Would someone please explain what "preserve pitch" is supposed to mean in this context. Thanks! |

I would suggest to just insert the Sony "Pitch Shift" plugin on the track you want to effect. With the plugin you have adjustment sliders for Semitones and Cents. Be sure to enable the "preserve duration" check box for your guitar track, so the timing remains the same. This plugin works just like Vegas does, although the Vegas method is the preferred method in most cases for me. The bigger problem for me, when doing it this way is that if you just want to pitch shift a section of a track, then you create an event of the section you want to fx, but to move it to another track and keep the timing the same is a PITA. Maybe someone can give me some tips on how to use the cut and paste method of moving events between tracks and make sure I don't place my cursor at a different location along the timeline and screw up my original recorded timing allignment? The best work around I found for this is to make your seperate event, then right click on the track header and select Duplicate Track. Then delete the event in the source track and then delete everything but the event you want to FX in the duplicated track. Oh....and maybe here's a bug that I found, but I'm not sure. When you right click on the track header to select "Duplicate Track", well the letter "u" is underlined, which I thought meant there is a keyboard short-cut by pressing "u" for the duplicate track function. Well, I've been pressing "u" with a track header selected and it does nothing. Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong? A bit further: So I went into the "customize keyboard" option to see if there was any keys assigned to "duplicate track". Nothing was defined, so I figured that might be the problem. So I assigned the key "u" to the function. It still does nothing when I press the "u" key and I have the track header selected. I was pretty excited when I got Acid 6, but I'm starting to become highly frustrated as I learn all the WORKAROUNDS you have to do, which are common items in most DAWs. Acid 6 is starting to lose a lot of the ease of use aspect for me, which I originally found so appealing. I'm really having second thoughts now and think maybe I should have gotten Sonar instead. Oh well.....the grass is always greener on the other side of the fense like they say. I'll manage to live with workarounds. Message last edited on6/16/2006 1:15:31 PM byBradlyMusic. |

The problem with that plug-in is that it does not synch with tempo....which kinda negates it's usefulness. Just use the "preserve pitch" thing - smart? no. Easy? yes. |

> FYI, a semitone is 100 cents. 1200 cents to an octave. Sorry, I should have been more clear in my post. It allows you to pitch shift semitones AND cents i.e., it allows you to set both. > Would someone please explain what "preserve pitch" is supposed to mean in this context. If you read the entire label it says: Preserve pitch of the Beatmapped track when the tempo changes So in the “context” it only applies to Tempo Changes. This infers nothing about shift pitch by other means. It is extremely useful when you want the beatmapped track to go faster and slower when the tempo changes but don’t want the track to change pitch just because the tempo changed. ~jr |
