Need help finding compositing software...

FrigidNDEditing wrote on 6/13/2006, 4:23 AM
Ok - There was a compositing software that was being talked about that had pixel tracking capabilities. I've searched and searched the forums and the internet. I think it showed a watchface in the link that he gave. Anyway - if you could point me in the right direction I'd sure appreciate it. Don't think it was for more than about $500.

Thanks again

Dave

Are you talking about Serious Magic's Ultra2?

You might be thinking of Bauhaus Mirage. I have it and it is quite good. Pixel tracking is easy and can be used to steady a shot or replace a graphic, etc.

It's neither one of those things - they show up regularly with searches - It's really eating at me now too. Funny thing is I totally ignored it because the amount of tracking I usually need to do is minimal, but the more I think about it, the more I would like to be able to do some more complex stuff. I thought it might be mirage, but that wasn't it.

Does no-one remember the software that was linked to an explanation etc... where the face of a wrist watch was being tracked with 4 point pixel tracking???

You're not talking about Silhouette Roto v2 Standalone, are you?

I use Boujou alot, the new Boujou bullet is a lighter, but very powerful motion tracker. REALVIZ MATCHMOVER PRO V4.0 is good too. there is a plugin for AE, like stableCam( not the correct name), that does pixel tracking extremely well for a small plugin.

Silhouette Roto has the best motion tracker (by a good margin).
Combustion is second best.
After Effects is third best (well below Combustion).
(I haven't used Fusion, it may be good also.)

Boujou, SynthEyes, etc. do virtual camera matching for 3D programs (Lightwave, Cinema4D, Maya, etc.), that's a different animal.

fact is though that the NEED for it isn't there entirely - however the times when you want to do something creative in a video but don't have the tools come and go and until you just plain buy it, you'll maybe never get it. Once you have it though - then you start to use it. So - now I'm gonna D/L the demo - and see what I think

Thanks for the help guys

Dave,

The four tracker on a wrist watch triggered it. Good thing you remembered the display. ;) I checked that product out after noticing that that's the software they use in King Kong.
