Subject:Rewire issues persist in 6.0a

One track inserted, everything set correctly, no sound until I call up the Acid properties page from the Reason bus. Close that and no sound again. Closed Reason to see if reloading would help: bingo, same old freeze of Acid necessitating a hard reboot. Doesn't happen every time, but then it never did happen every time. (Once is too much.)

Need some details:

Is this what you are doing:

1. Insert Reason into ACID.
2. Add MIDI track in ACID and rout to Reason.
3. Start Reason from the ACID view for Reason
4. Load your Reason project

5. You can play, and hear Reason.
6. Close the ACID Reason view.
7. Loose sound from Reason.
8. Open the ACID Reason view
9 Still no sound
10. Close Reason and restart. ACID Hangs.

If this is not correct, then please enumerate step by step what you are doing. The more detail the better.

Thanks
Peter

Thanks

Peter,

Here it is, slightly edited:

1. Insert Reason into ACID.
2.Start Reason from the ACID view for Reason. Close ACID view (soft synth properties) for reason
3. Add MIDI track in ACID and rout to Reason.
4. Load Reason project.
5. so far so good; playing keyboard results in sound. Move cursor into the project. Sound disappears.
6. Open Reason soft synth properties. Sound returns.
7. play, sound remains. Move cursor forward, sound disappears. (looking at Reason shows midi getting to the "Midi in Device" but not the actual instrument.)

It's moving the cursor to the place I want to start recording that makes the MIDI stop getting to the actual instrument (though not Reason.)

After I send this I'll see if the hang happens again. (As I said, it doesn't every time.)

Thanks,

kL

Didn't hang that time. When it does, it's a cursor-slowdown-lockup kind of freeze. I don't know why it happens when it does.
But the "move the cursor with the mouse/lose the sound" bug happens everytime. But only if the cursor is moved by clicking with the mouse, and only in a track -- any track, not just the affected one.

I don't use Reason, but here's something you might want to try. From your description it sounds like Acid is closing it's midi ports when you click in Reason. There are 2 options you can try and disable and maybe this will fix your problem.

In Acid goto OPTIONS>PREFERENCES>GENERAL TAB

Uncheck "close audio and midi ports when Acid is not the active application".

Also you might want to try disabling, "close media files when Acid is not the active application."

My thoughts are that when you click in the Reason window, then Acid is no longer the active application and may be closing the midi ports and therefore no longer sending data to Reason.

Thanks, Mr. BradlyMusic, but that ain't it. Rereading carefully will see that it's an odd anomaly related to clicking in a track to move the cursor, nothing to do with clicking in Reason. And rewire doesn't work that way anyway. But thanks anyway.
