Hi, i'm having a problem with midi and my keyboard. I have a SB audigy 4 and a midistudio2 keyboard. MIDI works, eg i can play notes....but the sounds are bizarre : evertime i play more than a single note the notes stay stuck and keep playing ...sometime notes are missing when i play them, or the sound is distorted. I tested MIDI with another MIDI host, MIDIOx wich is a small program ...and i'm having similar problems : the notes stay stucked and sometimes the sounds are bizarre not corresponding to the note. I used to use the USB connection for my keyboard and i didn't have those problems. I switched to MIDI because i had a recording crash with the usb connection. Does anyone knows were this could come from ? thanks so much in advance, cheers Message last edited on5/7/2006 11:13:16 AM bycarmellose sodique. |

If the USB connection works I would use that. Creative Labs (Audigy) is notorious for poorly written drivers so who knows what’s going on with them. Are you sure the recording crash was caused by the USB connection? It should not have been. I use a Midiman 2x2 USB on my laptop and it works fine. ~jr |

hello, thanks for the answer. Actually the USB works fine ...but as soon as i try to record in ACID from my keyboard it crashes. It's like the usb "information pipe" or session does not close after i push the stop button when i finished recording. The software then freezes indefinitly, that's why i switched to MIDI connection...because i want to record from my keyboard !!!!!! but i'm disapointed because now i can record but i can't play correctly with the MIDI connection :((((( Do you think it would be because of Audigy's driver ? it would be weird that they didn't programmed it well since the card is supposed to handle MIDI ? Moreover, i tryed with the midimapper instead of ASIO and still have the same problem ...Oh well ....it seems this problem has no solution.. cheers and thanks again ps : do you know if i could use generic dirvers instead of the creative ones ? > ps : do you know if i could use generic dirvers instead of the creative ones ? Yes, lots of people do this. It sounds like you may have both the USB and Audigy sending MIDI at the same time. Go into Options > Preferences > MIDI and make sure the USB is unselected if you are using the Audigy. If you have no external MIDI devices then don’t even select the Audigy out. Just select the Audigy IN as your only MIDI device and see if that clears it up. ~jr |

hello, i have try what you preconized but it didn't worked :(( In fact, i looked closely at the problem and it seems there's a wrong mapping between the notes i play on my keyboard and the sound that comes out from my stereo : for some notes the mapping seems to be OK, but every three of four notes the mapping is wrong and the sound is excessively distorted, weird. Do you know if i could download some "mapping files" that correspond to my keyboard to correct the problem ? Also, what other drivers would you advice me to use ? thanks very much by advance cheers, carmellose Message last edited on6/11/2006 4:35:14 AM bycarmellose sodique. |

Acid has an odd way of importing midi. It seems to transpose everything down by a few octaves. I'm not sure if this effects the sound you're achieving. I noticed this difference in ACID when I compared adding a midi file to Sonar or Live. The midi file in Sonar and Live is on the right notes but this does not seem to be the case in ACID. I really don't think this is a problem with your Audigy drivers because thousands of people use ACID and Audigy cards with no problems. I would try to get technical support from Sony before replacing your Audigy card/drivers. |

>>Acid has an odd way of importing midi. It seems to transpose everything down by a few octaves. I'm not sure if this effects the sound you're achieving.<< We do not transpose MIDI automatically. You must tell ACID to. How did you determining this? What are "the right notes"? Are you basing this on the keyboard note or what you are hearing? ACID uses C0 = note 0, so C5 = mid C. If you have specific MIDI files that do this, I would like to see them. Please email me these files. Peter Message last edited on6/12/2006 10:27:03 AM bypwppch. |
