Subject:Exporting .mp3 w/o sfk extension

Everytime I save one of my audio files, and select .mp3 format, the resulting file has and extra extension like audio.mp3.sfk. The resulting saved file does not work when I try to export to webpages, etc. How do you save your file clean without this extra extension appearing on your file name. Many thanks, Mike |

That's a file used by SoundForge, not your MP3. (It holds the info for the waveform graphic on the screen.) Your MP3 isn't there, too? Check the location in your Save dialog...it may be going somewhere you don't expect. |

Appreciate the feedback. Right now it's saving a .wav file and the .sfk file in my folder but no .mp3 file. I will look around to see if it could be saving it somewhere else. Is there something you set in preferences to tell it where to save the resulting .mp3 file?? Do I need to "tell" it where to save the .mp3 or should it not be in the same folder with these other files. Thanks again, Mike |

The .mp3 file should be in the same folder as the .mp3.sfk file. If you have Windows set to hide extensions for known file types, it's possible that the .mp3 file is there with no extension at all. Look for a file with the name you used but no extension. You may delete the .sfk files if you wish; as pointed out above all they contain is the picture of the wave form you see on the screen. |

Thank you. I do have .wav files but not .mp3. Everytime I save an audio file as an .mp3 I get a wave file and the ...mp3.sfk file but nothing else. It's kind of frustrating!! Mike |
