Subject:SB Acid 4.0b - advanced audio dialog?

1st, SB acid 4.0b's help file mentions an ADVANCED AUDIO PROPERTIES dialog in the program, but fails to say where to find this dialog. Anyone know?
2nd, I'm looking for it because although VEGAS and SOUND FORGE can see my Gina soundcard, SB ACID 4.0b lists microsoft soundmapper as the only audio device.
Any ideas?
Thanks....

If the audio driver is ASIO it is probably because SB ACID 4.0 doesn’t support ASIO. You need ACID Pro 4.0 for that support.

The GINA (20-bit) has a WDM driver.... and I still don't know where the Advanced Audio Preferences dialog is to be found in the program... but thanks for the thought.

Almost forgot - I meant to say Advanced Audio PREFERENCES, not Properties. The Acid help file mentions Preferences.

Sorry, I misinterpreted your post. Perhaps they mean:

Options > Preferences > Audio Device > Advanced...

This will being up the Advanced Audio Configuration dialog.

In the Echo console, go to settings > Advanced and select the WDM driver (this will be ASIO if your app supports it and you've selected it in your app your audio preferences). I have a Gina 20 on my secondary system and ASIO works fine on Acid 5, 6, Vegas 6, and Sound Forge 8.

Thanks JohnnyRoy & drbam for sticking with me on this... we are talking about SCREENBLAST Acid 4.0b, right?

Here's the problem: When I select Options/preferences, there are 3 tabs: General, Audio, and CD. I select the Audio tab, and the dialog has 5 entries: Playback buffering; Open files as loops if between...; Project tempo range; Editing Application; and Name.
Does this sound like what I should be seeing?

Incidentally, I've also submitted this to tech support and gotten no better answers so far... Is that considered crossposting? They suggested re-installing, but the dialog is precisely the same on 2 different computers (with different soundcards) I've loaded Acid on... computer 2 has an Echo MIA card.

Screenblast ACID 4 does not supported anything other than the Sound Mapper. At this point in ACID's life, only the pro version permited the use of Classic Wave (WDM) or ASIO drivers.

To use your Echo MIA with SB 4 you need to set the Mia as the default sound device in Windows.

Note: The Advanced tab would not permit you to change the device. The Advanced audio page is for configuring timing between input and out for Wave devices and for ASIO configuration.

What did SB 4's help file describe the use of the Advanced page for?

hmm, odd.
I was searching for the word "Device" in SB Acid's Help. One result was labelled "Advanced Audio Preferences". It says this:
" Hardware
Audio devices
This list displays all of the audio devices that are installed in your computer. Selecting a device allows you to set the options below for that device."

So are you saying this dialog does not actually exist in Screenblast Acid? There's certainly no indication of where to find this dialog in the help file (a very bad thing, whether it exists or not)!

Yes, this is what I am saying. The advanced audio prefs page would be of no use in SB ACID 4 as the only device that can be used in SB ACID 4 is the Microsoft Sound Mapper.

The help topic "Advanced Audio Preferences" is for ACID Pro 4. It appears to have been inadvertenly left in the SB ACID 4 help file. In the ACID Pro 4 help, there is a discription on where/how to use this feature with a link to this page.

Sorry for the confusion.

But to be clear on your problem:

SB ACID 4 does not support the use of specific audio devices as Vegas Pro, Sound Forge, and ACID Pro do. SB ACID 4 only supports the Microsoft Sound Mapper for audio i/o. The only way to use a specific audio device with SB ACID 4 is to assign that device to be used by Windows as the Sound Mapper hardware device. This is configured from the Windows Control Pannel.
