Subject:Split keyboard control ?

Hi !

I have a Novation ReMote 49 controler keyboard which can be split into octaves or "zones" allowing different instuments to be played across the key range.

My question is can i play multiple VSTi's in realtime with Acid 6 ?

This should work. ACID Pro 6 allows multi-track recording and the MIDI tracks are now assigned to a MIDI channel so just set up two MIDI tracks with their inputs set to the MIDI Channels of your split keyboard and it will play whatever VSTi's those tracks are assigned to.

Yes, it should work the way you expect it to. Just define the zones on your controller and set your tracks in ACID to listen to specific channels of input and then route them to any VSTi's you want.

Just an extra tidbit, you can create your own "zones" for any old MIDI controller keyboard in ACID very easily. Here's an example:

1) Insert the DLS synth, set channel 1 to Piano and channel 2 to Tuba
2) Insert 2 MIDI tracks, set them both to listen to the controller keyboard's MIDI input (not AutoInput). Also, verify that the output of MIDI Track 1 is routed to chan 1 of the DLS and the output of MIDI Track 2 is routed to channel 2 of the DLS
3) Under the input selection menu on MIDI Track 1, choose "MIDI Input Filters"
4) Enable the filter, choose "Record selected items", then under the MIDI Message Type, choose "Note Messagese" and set the Min/Max note values to define the "zone" on your keyboard you want to play the DLS on channel 1 (Piano)
5) Repeat steps 3 & 4 for the input filters on MIDI Track 2 and the zone you want for channel 2 (Tuba)

Now one portion of your keyboard plays the Piano and one portion plays the Tuba. You could just as easily have routed each MIDI track to a different VSTi, an external synth, or to a ReWire device. Of course one only plays higher notes and one only plays lower, but it's still a neat trick.

Fun with Input Filters!
